Music Together of Marin Teachers

Music Together of Marin teachers are involved in the music making commuity, and are registered teachers with Music Together®. Each brings their unique style and love of music to our classes to engage, and create, lasting music memories for your child and your family!

Chloe is a mom to two young Music Together pupils. The joy of attending these classes with her children inspired Chloe to become a certified Music Together Teacher. She is also a singer/songwriter with degrees in Education and Sociology. She believes that music is the best therapy and loves sharing this passion with children and their families.

Lakshmi is an active performing musician, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, vocalist and kirtan leader. Her passion for sharing music has led her to stages all over the world, and recently into the classroom. She currently teaches vocal sound healing at Globe Institute in San Francisco and has now joined the ranks of amazing Music Together instructors. Her mission in Music Together is to bring the creative joy of the making of live music into the every day lives of families and to assist young children in having a head start in a life full of music making.

Jen is a devotee of all things musical. She began playing music at a young age, beginning with the recorder, and moving to cello, clarinet, piano, and guitar. She currently plays electric and upright bass, and sings, in several Bay Area groups. Many years spent teaching young children has upheld Jen’s belief that we are all innately musical beings, and given a chance to express ourselves freely, we can easily let our musical selves shine. Through her teaching, Jen hopes to inspire people of all ages to have fun experiencing, and making, music together. Jen is a registered Music Together teacher through the Center for Music and Young Children (CMYC), Princeton, NJ.

Laurynn's childhood was infused with music right from the start. After becoming a guitarist and saxophonist, she knew she needed to find some way to help others through the innate power she saw in music. She studied music therapy at Berklee College of Music, becoming a board certified music therapist in 2011. She has since worked in a variety of settings including special needs schools, child care, hospitals, senior care facilities and hospice. 

Currently, Laurynn is working with medically fragile children in hospice and palliative care in addition to teaching family music classes. She holds a masters and credential in Early Childhood Special Education from San Francisco State. Laurynn is now mommy to Eliot!

Emily B, a native of the SF Bay Area, has been working with children for nearly 10 years as a music educator from toddlers to teens.   Emily brings a wide range of musical styles to her classes from bluegrass, old-time, folk and rock, and mixes her repertoire between ukulele, guitar and banjo.  She is excited to be working with the Music Together community and looks forward to sharing her love of group singing and the power of modeling music. 

In her spare time, Emily performs as a vocalist and guitarist with the 8-piece Western Swing band, The Lonestar Retrobates and recently completed an album of bluegrass with her country swing band, The Vivants. 

A Marin native, Emily is excited to bring the music-making back home with the families of Marin beginning Fall '19!

Emily is delighted to be part of the Music Together® community since 2017!  She loves bringing music and dancing into classroom and camp settings, Emily thrives in sharing music with people.  She delights in getting to know her students and being able to craft classes that they will enjoy.  She also sings with a local community choir, plays guitar, and is a singer-song-writer. Emily has studied music with several teachers in the Bay area, including Mark Growden and Sharon Pucci. She has taught music in preschools, at the Community Music Center in San Francisco and in her spare time, Emily loves to be out in nature, camping and hiking.

Tom Foote, a professional drummer, studied at Berklee College of Music, Drummer's Collective and Shepherd University. He is versed in all musical styles and has studied classical, world percussion, African drumming and drum set. He has toured around the world, recorded jingles and on numerous projects, and currently produces, composes and records for Music Together, so you've already heard his songs! Tom studied with Malian master drummer Moussa Traore, is the owner of Footnotes Music and has been teaching Music Together for more than 15 years. He is also the founder and developer of Rhythm Kids, the newest addition to the Music Together Curriculum for ages 4-8! He is endorsed by Toca Percussion. Tom brings his love of music and passion to every class he teaches!

Justine Chadly is the founder of In Harmony Music and has been directing and teaching in the Bay Area since 2003. A native of San Francisco, her background includes musical theatre, vocal performance and dance. She holds a BA in music from UC Davis with an emphasis in vocal performance and holds an MA in Music Education with an emphasis in early childhood and special needs from San Francisco State University. She completed the certification course from the Smithsonian Folkways in World Music Pedagogy in the summer of 2015, the Music Together Certification 1 course, and has performed with early music, Hindustani, Gamelan and jazz ensembles. Justine has composed music for the Music Together curriculum including the bonus song "Singing In Harmony" and “'Bout My Friends.” In addition, she frequently presents and lectures on best practices for early-childhood music education conferences.
